Apply for Assistance

State Grant of up to $3,000! Assistance in preparing and developing federal R&D grant proposals - with potential for commercialization - is available to Idahoans statewide through the Idaho Grant Proposal Incentive (GPI) Fund. A small grant, up to $3,000, is available to qualifying businesses to help with the costs of applying for a federal R&D grant. Services include helping to determine the viability of submitting a proposal; assisting in the development of superior proposals; helping to fine tune business and commercialization strategies; and assessment of the final submission package.

Help is Available Even If You Don’t Get a State Grant!

Regardless of whether you receive a GPI Fund grant or not, the Department of Commerce and its partners (see section Program Partners for list) can assist you in preparing and developing a federal R&D grant proposal. Services include helping to determine the viability of submitting a proposal; assisting in the development of superior proposals; helping to fine tune business and commercialization strategies; and assessment of the final submission package.

Finding a Topic!

Review the federal agencies’ most recent federal grant topics by linking to their topic indexes from the Agency Topic Areas section of this Web site. Identify one or more research topics that are relevant to your technology or technical solution. Note that while the agencies only accept proposals during certain times of the year, topic areas typically do not change drastically from one year to the next, and it is never too early to begin preparing for future submission dates. Record the agency and topic title that is relevant to your technology in order to provide this information to your Idaho GPI Fund representative.

Two Easy Steps

Complete the following steps in order to apply for assistance through the Idaho GPI Fund.

  1. Review the sections of this Web site listed below to ensure that you understand the eligibility requirements of the federal grant programs and to determine if your business and technology are right for a federal R&D grant. If you are applying for a non-SBIR/STTR grant or contract, you must show that the federal grant is for research and development with a potential for commercialization.
