Mission and Vision

Overview

The Idaho Office of Science & Technology (OST) is the State’s only state office focusing solely on the development of Idaho’s innovation industry and the application of technology to all Idaho businesses. The OST staff sets goals for innovation industry development in the state and supports the establishment, expansion, and attraction of technology companies, builds partnerships and programs, fosters infrastructure and research, and develops the state’s technology image nationally and internationally. The office was created in January 2004 by Governor Dirk Kempthorne and is a division of The Idaho Department of Commerce.

Vision Statement

The OST embraces the Idaho Department of Commerce vision statement which states: Idaho is a vibrant and progressive state where every citizen has the opportunity to have a first class education, a rewarding job, and enjoy a world-class quality of life—where a graduate of our education system has unlimited, rewarding career opportunities without leaving Idaho.

Mission Statement

The Idaho Office of Science & Technology improves the quality of life for Idahoans by establishing, expanding, and attracting innovative companies that create quality jobs, strengthen communities, and expand citizens’ choices of world-class products & services while preserving and protecting our environment and resources.
